Saman Khadem (b. December 1980, Tehran) is a painter, educator, and multidisciplinary artist. He began his artistic practice in 1998 by studying painting at the Open Classes of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, and studied painting under Aydin Aghdashloo from 1998 to 2004. He worked as an assistant instructor in special classes for teenagers from 2004 to 2006, and resumed teaching painting professionally in 2009, continuing ever since. His works are predominantly situated within a surrealist space, exploring the boundaries between reality and imagination, as well as personal and visual experience. Alongside painting, he began working in cinema and theatre in 2000, collaborating with Bahram Beyzaie as his assistant, and has participated in approximately 30 cinema and theatre projects. He later turned to directing short films, commercials, and music videos. His graphic design work includes logo design, posters, book and CD covers, brochures, and several book covers for Bahram Beyzaie. His first solo exhibition emerges from years of artistic activity, experience, and exploration in painting and other fields of art—held only after years of learning and working, when he felt a body of works had come together and was ready to be presented as a whole.
