Nava Sabetimani (b. 1989) is an Iranian painter based in Tehran. Her work often draws on personal experience, repetition, and erasure. Since 2022, she has focused primarily on oil painting, having previously worked with metalpoint and ink.
At the age of 26, Sabetimani completed a Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, specializing in medicinal plants, before deciding to pursue art. She subsequently received a Bachelor’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Art and Architecture at Islamic Azad University in Tehran.
Sabetimani’s paintings explore the experience of living in the shadow of comparison. Having grown up with a twin sister, she understands twinhood as a unique bond intertwined with the persistent challenge of comparison. Twins often find themselves under the scrutiny of others, in a space where similarities are celebrated and differences overlooked, sometimes to the point where one is favored over the other.
Her most recent exhibition, Kalanjar, the result of three years of intermittent work, was presented in May 2026 at Kandovan Projects, Pejman Foundation.
