Hedie Toutounchian (b. 1988, Tehran) is a visual artist with an MFA in Painting. She has been working professionally in painting since 2012 and in printmaking since 2019. She currently lives and works in Tehran. Her practice examines architecture and urban structures as unstable and evolving frameworks, in relation to both urban and natural environments. Working through painting and printmaking, and employing techniques such as layering and blurring, she constructs images in which forms and landscapes are subjected to processes of erosion, rupture, and dissolution, suspended between stasis and collapse. In her recent works, the artist’s lived experience within the socio-political and historical context of Iran has become increasingly present, articulating the relationship between space, memory, and politics, and reconsidering a changing environment as a site of tension and transformation.
ARTWORK PREPARATION
Every artwork is shipped according to its location.
For the safety of the artwork and to facilitate international transportation, works located in Iran are professionally rolled and packed in archival shipping tubes. Paintings on canvas are carefully removed from their stretcher bars prior to shipment and should be professionally re-stretched and framed upon arrival.
