Artist Biography

Davood Taherzadeh (b. 1993, Shiraz) is an Iranian sculptor, photographer, and graphic designer whose artistic practice is rooted in a fascination with form, material, and human emotion. Working primarily in sculpture and mask-making, he explores the tension between inner freedom and social boundaries, examining the dialogue between the visible and the hidden, the spoken and the silenced. His works draw upon fragments of memory, silence, resistance, pain, defiance, and beauty, and are created through the experimental combination of diverse materials, including metal, resin, antique Iranian textiles, and, in some works, natural animal bones. Shaped by the social and cultural realities of living and working in Iran, Taherzadeh’s practice reflects on the ways in which objects can embody both vulnerability and resistance. Through his work, he seeks to connect with those who understand silence and view creation as a form of resistance, asserting that even in darkness, art can serve as a form of light: “Our mission is to fight, and we fight with our wounds.”
