Alireza Parhizkari

Alireza Parhizkari, born in 1994 in Qazvin, is a graduate of Painting from the University of Art, Tehran. His artistic practice takes shape at the intersection of painting and conceptual art, where the image functions not merely as representation, but as a site for the emergence of the individual unconscious and collective memory. His works, focusing on the tensions, ruptures, and latent connections embedded within contemporary social and political structures, investigate the relationship between the individual and power, identity, memory, and the notion of the real.
Parhizkari’s creative process is grounded in an immediate and unmediated confrontation with the blank surface, a condition in which the image is experienced before it is seen. He consciously distances himself from mediating devices such as photography or mechanical reproduction in order to preserve the possibility of unpredictability, intuitive presence, and the spontaneous emergence of mental associations. Within this process, imagination and reality exist not in opposition, but in a continuous dialectical relationship. This approach transforms his works into a space for psychological, sociological, and philosophical inquiry, where the image becomes, simultaneously, both a document of lived experience and a reflection of what often remains repressed within the hidden layers of collective consciousness.
