Alireza Nekouei, a contemporary Iranian artist and painter, was born in Zahedan, a desert city in southeastern Iran. From the very beginning, the nature and culture of Iran’s arid regions played a significant role in shaping his artistic vision. Throughout his life and work, he has also spent considerable time in Kerman, another desert and historically rich city, which has been a major source of inspiration for many of the concepts embedded in his art.
Nekouei’s works are primarily created using acrylic on canvas, where the interplay of colors and forms uniquely expresses profound human and social concepts. By blending traditional Iranian cultural and philosophical elements with contemporary thought, he has developed a visual and conceptual language where the past and the present converge and evolve.
The core of Nekouei’s work is built on the connection between Eastern and Western philosophies, tradition and modernity, and the interplay of time and space. His paintings act not only as artistic expressions but as spiritual experiences for the viewer. Drawing on the rich symbols and imagery of Iranian culture, he reinterprets and reconstructs these symbols in a contemporary context using modern techniques.
