Ahmad Mansouri

Ahmad Mansouri (Hiwa) (b. 1990) is an artist from Sanandaj, currently based in Tehran. He holds a BA in Painting from the University of Art Tehran and also works as an art instructor. In his artistic practice, he explores the relationship between memory, nature, and the erosion of contemporary human experience, approaching painting not as representation but as a space for reflection on things that are felt before they are seen. His work is influenced by the history of Iranian painting, particularly the miniature tradition, which is reinterpreted within a personal and contemporary framework. In series such as Pleasure in Deterioration, he addresses the decay of nature and the gradual erosion of the inner life of the contemporary human condition. He has participated in several group exhibitions and was selected as one of the finalists of the 14th New Generation Selected program at Homa Gallery. In his ongoing practice, he combines painting, analog photography, and industrial materials to engage with themes of media, war, and structures of power; where scientific progress, alongside the improvement of human life, simultaneously contributes to the production of instruments of warfare, forming a cycle of competition, destruction, and “pleasure in deterioration.”
